Regarding the current state of things in Israel
Dr. Tal Slutzker
This past year has shown an incredible amount of discussion in the
Israeli media regarding the state of democracy in Israel and the balance
between the government and the Supreme Court, there has also been discussion about
secularism versus religion. I propose that Religion gives the citizen more
choice. He can choose whether to have a close relation with Religion or a
distant one. It gives us more choice of our way of being. One can choose to
keep certain religious laws or not to keep them. The Book of Tanya gives the
Jewish man a choice to have more control over ones heart. It gives one the opportunity
to turn hate into love. That is the strength of the book of Tanya.
The preoccupation with this book can fix the state of things by
turning sides in our heart. We achieve love through prayer, learning, and the
relation between both in the tradition of Rabbi Shneor Zalman from Liadi. There
is a right to prayer to all of us, including in the public sphere, and a right
to pray in the Synagogue. These prayers will pure to Jewish heart and let the
Godly side win over the beastly one, that is according to the Chassidic
tradition, the book was translated to many languages and can be found in Chabad
stores all over the world. The Chabad believers study according to this book
through their entire lives and keep Mitzvoth according to it. This book gives
one choice in one's heart and soul. I have been studying this book because it
fits the Doppelganger theme in Literature and philosophy. The good
"brother" is the godly side in ones soul. The bad one is the beastly.
One is in a war of one against another in these two sides on a daily basis and
every time one wins. This winning happens at every second. The goal is to let
the godly side win over the beasty one.
Both are from god but the godly is superior the beastly in its
emotional content and level in the Kabbalistic tree of Sephirot. The beasty
side is made from material that comes from Kelipot of Nogha. That happens in
the Jewish soul and is a vehicle for keeping Mitzvoth. The material of the
Godly soul is made from Higher material in the Sephirot, also from the Malkhut.
All potentially contain Nizozot from Hashem. The work of the Jewish man is to
bring up the Nizozot from the lower plains of existence into the higher plain, prayer
does this. This dynamism inside the Sephirot is what our spiritual world is
made of, and this is by help from the Jewish person that serves god. According
to the Jewish faith we all srve god on way or another, but we can be made conscious
of that and bring our work to a higher level. The Tanya book is being learned
in all ages at synagogues and Chabad centers and in their Yeshivas in Israel
and America.
